India’s Act East Policy Pays Dividends

I recently took some time during my business trip to Papua New Guinea to speak to reputed journalist Surya Gangadharan. We discussed India’s Act East Policy on his globally recognised GIST show, hosted by the StratNewsGlobal MSM media channel based in India.

I was glad to share my interview in the context of the ongoing Australia, India and Papua New Guinea bilateral meetings and trade growth arising from Indian PM Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Australia in July 2026.

In this interview, I briefly highlighted the key factors of India’s Act East policy that have paid rich dividends for both Australian and Indian economies. Hopefully, this also happen with the wider South Pacific region island nations through the Forum for India Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC).

Note that my interventions in this interview are only my personal views. These do not reflect the official positions or opinions of the Think Tanks or other organisations I’m involved with in Australia, India, Papua New Guinea and elsewhere.
